One by One is re-released on Thursday 19th October 2017 and is available to pre-order in Paperback and eBook.
Right, so it’s been a few weeks since I posted about having my rights to Doorways reverted to me and I am going to post next week about all the ducks I’m currently getting in a row to ensure the successful reboot of Doorways and the on going Bermuda Jones series. This week, I wanted to write about pre-release jitters. That horrible knot in your stomach the day before your work is released into the wild and torn apart by predators.
Okay, that’s a little extreme, but every author I know has those nerves. What if people don’t like it? What if people hate it and all that hard work was for nothing? It’s a horrible feeling but at the same time, it has just a hint of excitement to it.
When David McCaffrey (who wrote Hellbound which if you haven’t read, you should do NOW!) approached me to bring One by One on board his rel-aunched Britain’s Next Best Seller label, I was intrigued. One by One was a pivotal moment for me in my writing career. I had spent 10 years, flittering from one idea to another, like Tarzan swinging from vine to vine. (Picturing me in a loincloth is optional). But One by One I focused on, initially as a screenplay and then turned that into a 400+ page novel. I did the formatting and had my friends edit it. My brother made me an awesome cover and I set out to get one five star review and I did that. In fact, I got quite a few which was nice. But my mind had moved on, to creating the whole world for Bermuda and a number of other stories and series in the works that One by One had kind of served its purpose.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved writing it and Lucas Cole holds a special place in my creative heart as he was a fun hero to write. But my focus has been on Bermuda and a few other projects, so revisiting it has been a lot of fun. Getting it under the eyes of a professional proof reader/editor has been helpful and the shiny new cover has been very well received. It’s such an exciting process, the bit in between writing ‘The End’ and the launch day, and I think I had forgotten that.
My experiences since being published haven’t been great and I slightly fell out of love with writing. But recently, I have been reinvigorated and am excited for the re-release of One by One. David has been excellent, we even went to Darker Side of Fiction a few weeks back which was great and he has put so much time and effort into bringing One by One to publication that I am eternally grateful.
I think as a show of thanks, everyone should buy a copy…..

After a few pre-orders, it’s been nice to see it rise up the charts again. And even though I wrote it nearly 3 years ago, and it currently has 43 reviews on Amazon (7 more needed people!!), I still have those same nerves I had in March 2015.
Bring it on!
